Road repairs in Amur Oblast to begin after residents' appeal
In the Amur Region, repairs have begun on a potholed road connecting the district center of Zeya with several villages. Previously, schoolchildren traveled to the state exam center in the neighboring village of Algach in rubber boots: cars couldn't get through, so they had to walk through the mud and then transfer to a bus.
"Residents collected over 100 signatures and submitted them to the local council members. Then they contacted the prosecutor's office and got things moving! Now the contractor has started building ditches and said he'll finish by the end of the week. Then they'll see how the water recedes and continue the repairs," a local resident familiar with the situation told NeMoskva.
We're talking about the Zeya-Polyakovsky highway. This is the only road that connects about ten settlements with a regional center.
"This place used to be farming, forestry, and a little further on, in Oktyabrsky, there are gold mines. The population is sparse, and heavy equipment has destroyed everything. The area isn't completely idle, which is good. But while 10-15-ton trucks used to drive there, now you get 40-ton trucks. Of course, the road wasn't designed for that, and there's no money. But people are staying, so something needs to be done," the interviewee says.
Previously "NeMoscow" Wrote About the road in Oktyabrskoye. It's a village further away, and the situation there is worse. Repairs are still a long way off. Local residents said there's no road there at all, food isn't delivered, there are few wells with drinking water, and there are difficulties with deliveries: sometimes there's nothing to fill the tank with, sometimes there's no water truck.
