A massive drone attack on Baltic ports, a blackout in Crimea, and a strike on Kyiv: the main events of the night
Russia's regions experienced a critically unsettled night due to large-scale drone strikes, which targeted strategic facilities and energy infrastructure from the Baltic to the Black Sea. Meanwhile, heavy exchanges of fire continue, leading to a rising death toll.
Attacks on the ports of Ust-Luga and Vysotsk in the Leningrad region
Serious damage to so-called "infrastructure facilities" was recorded near the major seaports of Ust-Luga and Vysotsk. This was officially announced by Leningrad Region Governor Alexander Drozdenko. According to him, a total of 56 drones were shot down by air defense forces over the region.
Emergency services are working. The aftermath is being dealt with promptly. According to preliminary reports, no one was injured.
Therefore, the incident had a direct impact on the daily lives of citizens. Meanwhile, in St. Petersburg, local residents began complaining en masse about severe interruptions in mobile and landline internet service.
Smoke at the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery and a blow to the Kursk Region
The central part of the country was also hit. A detailed OSINT analysis by the publication Astra suggests that the largest oil refinery, Slavneft-YANOS, may have been attacked in Yaroslavl. Photographs published by eyewitnesses clearly show heavy smoke after the drone alert was issued. However, regional authorities have not officially reported any hits to any facility.
Consequently, the situation in the Yaroslavl region remains only partially under control. Governor Mikhail Evrayev stated curtly that the region is "under attack by Ukrainian UAVs." According to official government agencies, two people were injured in the region, and more than 70 drones were shot down.
Simultaneously, drones attacked two villages in the Kursk region. According to local authorities, a precision drone strike in the village of Tolpino severely damaged a passenger car. In Kursk itself, debris from downed aerial targets caused various types of damage to three cars and the roof of a residential building.
A complete blackout in annexed Crimea
Ultimately, the most severe consequences for the utility sector were recorded in the south. One person was killed and two others were injured in a drone attack overnight in annexed Crimea. The damage caused a widespread power outage across the peninsula, as officially reported by the Krymenergo hotline. Emergency restoration work is currently underway at the facilities.
Partial power outages also occurred in Sevastopol overnight. Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev later reported that an attack had occurred on key power infrastructure outside the city. As a result, all important public facilities in Sevastopol had to be quickly switched to backup power systems.
Death toll rises after Kyiv airstrike
However, a grave situation is also developing on the other side of the border. The death toll from the massive Russian attack on Kyiv yesterday has risen to 11. Another 46 people were injured to varying degrees, according to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
Thus, mutual attacks continue to claim the lives of civilians and destroy vital rear and border infrastructure on both sides.
