"The worst thing is being in a closed space without communication": Wildberries warehouse employees in Ryazan talk about a nighttime arrival
Ryazan warehouse marketplace came under attack A drone crashed on the night of July 29, injuring six people. The warehouse suspended operations due to damage. Employees working the night shift spoke to NeMoskva about that night, requesting anonymity.
Employees say they're "still reeling from the shock." Three people reported almost the same thing: a drone hit the sixth-floor roof at 4:13 a.m. Another drone hit the parking lot, and it was cordoned off—people couldn't immediately go home; some "hung out in the birch grove until 10 a.m." The warehouse is located outside the city, and transportation to the city wasn't organized.
"The alarm itself started at 2:35, but we had no signal; the alarm only sounded after we'd already been hit. Huge crowds of people ran from their blocks to the exit, and then to the nearest woods. Some ran to the highway to hitchhike, but no one stopped or gave them a ride."
According to the interviewee, there was no contact with family members; phones remain in lockers for clothes and personal belongings.
"That's the most terrifying thing—being in a closed space without communication. And now that I've gotten a little more comfortable, I remembered one detail: we weren't carrying any Korean workers, of whom we have a lot at the warehouse. There were about two hundred at the start, and then they came from burned-out warehouses in other regions. They work every night on various operations. But that night, they weren't among us, and their bus wasn't there either," the interviewee said.
She assumed that they were taken out in an organized manner with the first warnings about the drone threat.
Another employee reported seeing Korean workers at the start of the night shift, but they were no longer among those who ran out.
"They probably managed to take care of them. We saved ourselves. I saw a man faint, I saw another with blood coming out of his ears from a concussion."
However, employees noted that the next day, an offer of medical and psychological assistance was received in the Wildberries chat if anyone needed it. However, they no longer wish to return to this job.
