State Duma elections: Yabloko candidates have begun campaigning in 131 single-mandate constituencies.
After the Supreme Court disqualified the Yabloko party's federal list from the State Duma elections, registered single-mandate candidates began campaigning in the regions. Meanwhile, the party's representatives continue to compete in 131 of 225 single-mandate constituencies.
Campaigning, debates and observer training
A total of 225 deputies are elected to the State Duma from single-mandate constituencies, including 10 from the occupied territories of Ukraine. With the withdrawal of its party list, Yabloko's only remaining option for getting its representatives elected is through constituency representation.
In Yakutia, candidate Anatoly Nogovitsyn has already collected donations for the first batch of printed campaign materials. He also participated in the election debates between the region's single-mandate candidates, where he publicly declared the need for a ceasefire.
However, active campaigning is also underway in other regions. For example, in Ufa, candidate Alexei Akimenko is meeting with voters as part of the first training session for election observers. In St. Petersburg, candidate Dmitry Khorzov has also begun meeting with citizens.
Influx of volunteers and pressure on headquarters
Volunteers continue to arrive en masse at the party office in the Irkutsk region to participate in campaigning. As a result, due to the large influx of volunteers, the headquarters has added an extra workday. Similar recruitment efforts are underway in the Novosibirsk region.
However, the election campaign is under pressure. In the Kaliningrad region, party candidate Anton Gendrikson was disqualified in absentia due to a previous arrest for "displaying extremist symbols," which carries a ban on participation in the elections. Nevertheless, the party's remaining candidates continue to work in the region.
Furthermore, the regional branch in the Omsk region experienced an attack on its social media group. As a result, the page had to be temporarily shut down, but campaigning efforts in the region are continuing.
