A state of emergency has been declared in the Altai Krai "due to unfavorable agrometeorological conditions this season." wrote Governor Viktor Tomenko reported on his Telegram channel that the dry summer has impacted agricultural producers' work in the fields.

Damage assessment and crop forecasts

According to Tomenko, within a month, commissions will be established in all municipalities in the region where fieldwork is underway to assess the damage to farmers. This information will then be forwarded to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, where a decision will be made on possible additional support measures.

Falling water levels in rivers and a state of emergency in neighboring regions

It was reported that the water level in the Ob and Biya got down below critical levels. Experts predict that no significant rise in water levels is expected in the near future.

Previously, a state of emergency due to drought was declared in other Western Siberian regions, including Omsk and Novosibirsk.
