Teacher wage arrears in Russia are growing rapidly.

According to Rosstat, debts increased 15-fold in the first three months of 2023 alone. In January, they amounted to 10 million rubles, but by March, they had reached 152 million rubles. The reason for this debt is the failure to allocate funds from the budget.
In addition, another 10 million rubles are owed to Russian teachers due to employers' "lack of funds." This brings the total debt to over 162 million rubles. Of this amount, 146 million are owed to the regional budget.
As of February 1, the total debt across all sectors of Russia reached almost 799 million rubles, 647 million of which is due to "lack of own funds." More than 18,9 workers are experiencing delays in their wages.
