The strike at the Ural mine has ended. Families greet the miners with shouts of "Hurray!" and "Well done!"

More than 70 workers at the Mariinsky mine ended their strike, which lasted more than a day. After a meeting in the assembly hall, where the company's management repeated promises to preserve jobs and the underground emerald mining method, the miners out out into the street to their families waiting for them.

The Sverdlovsk ombudsman will monitor the mine's future. Tatyana MerzlyakovaShe said she would act as a "panic button" through which workers could contact the authorities if they felt their rights were being violated in the future.

The miners said they were satisfied with the outcome of the strike. They are glad that management listened to them and accommodated them.
