In Krasnoyarsk, the mayor's office sold a bomb shelter to make way for a store. Now a deputy is demanding it be returned.

In 2002, the Krasnoyarsk mayor's office first leased a bomb shelter in the city center to an entrepreneur, and then sold it entirely. пишет Prospect Mira.

The building in central Krasnoyarsk, on Mira Avenue, was constructed in 1956. The design included a descent into a protective shelter. According to the evacuation plan, residents could descend to the basement without going outside, and then exit the shelter in two ways: either through the exit leading to the adjacent grounds or onto Mira Avenue.

After the premises were purchased, they underwent renovations, and now there are no emergency exits. It now houses the Hobby Grad store, which sells crafts and art supplies.

Legislative Assembly deputy Alexander Gliskov, at the request of Sergei Bolshakov, the chairman of the building where the bomb shelter was sold, contacted the Federal Property Management Agency. The agency responded that "civil defense structures should not be transferred to third parties." According to a 1993 law, all shelters are state-owned and cannot be privatized.

However, as the publication notes, back in 2022, when bomb shelters began to be inspected nationwide, Krasnoyarsk authorities responded that "it was currently not profitable for the mayor's office to evict businessmen." Residents of the building, along with the chairman, intend to take the matter further to the Investigative Committee.
