He lived to see it. An Omsk orphan received a housing certificate from the state at age 78.

In early June, 20 orphanage graduates in Omsk received certificates for housing. Among them: 78-year-old Ivan Konoplev, who was given to an orphanage by his mother along with two other children after his father's death. He had been trying to get his own place for many years, and now will be able to purchase 1-room apartment.

The man worked in a variety of jobs throughout his life: as a mechanic at a television factory, managing a village community center, building barnyards, working as a school "crafts teacher," as an artist at a train station, and as a window dresser at a shopping mall. Throughout his life, he bounced between dorms and rented apartments.

For the past ten years, he's been huddled in a small room assigned to him as an employee. His personal life hasn't been very fortunate: he's married twice and has three children. Two of his sons are dead, and his daughter lives abroad.

He had been trying to get on the housing waiting list for a long time, but he was rejected. After applying to deputy Oleg Smolin The prosecutor's office got involved in the case, and everything worked out.

And I wish you, too, happiness in your new home. You have your whole life ahead of you, may it be filled with the voices of your children, your family, and loved ones, may they rejoice for you, and you for them. All the best, guys.", Konoplev said after receiving the certificate. 2,7 million rubles, and then wiped away his tears.

Now, within five months, Konoplev must find himself comfortable housing with an area of at least 33 square meters.

Some subscribers thanked the editors for the kind material, while others felt there was nothing to be happy about. "What's there to celebrate? The state fulfilled its obligation after 70 years, that's not normal." "Well, I've lived to see it.", they commented.
