A dress code guide has been developed for tourists in Dagestan.

Recommendations for choosing casual and special clothing for visiting religious sites, as well as information on generally accepted norms of behavior in the republic related to its cultural and religious characteristics, have been developed by the Ministry of Tourism of Dagestan.

The information leaflet is already being distributed to tourists through tour operators and other representatives of the tourism business community in electronic format. It is planned to subsequently place booklets on board aircraft, allowing passengers to study the information in detail during the flight.— the correspondent was told "Non-Moscow" in the Ministry of Tourism.

According to the rules published in the memo, tourists are advised against smoking and drinking alcohol in public places, as well as active displays of affection between men and women in public. Adherence to a modest dress code is also recommended: miniskirts, tight-fitting clothing, and revealing clothing are not permitted. When visiting religious sites, headscarves are required, and shorts and tank tops are prohibited. Furthermore, topless sunbathing is prohibited on Dagestani beaches.

It is noted that in the future, information boards are planned to be installed at the airport, railway stations, and also along the route to major tourist attractions.

The department clarified that community activists, representatives of the Makhachkala Diocese, the republican muftiate, the tourism community, the Ministry of Nationalities, and the Ministry of Tourism participated in the development of the memo.

It is worth noting that in Dagestan, conflicts between local residents and tourists due to the latter's appearance are not uncommon.
