There are no places for first-graders: a new school in Tomsk is eliminating recreation areas to accommodate everyone

On information TV2, Evrika-Razvitie has currently enrolled seven first-grade classes, bringing the total number of children to 180. There is still not enough space for over a hundred preschoolers.

Parents are sounding the alarm, claiming that residents are deliberately purchasing residence permits in Tomsk's Zelenye Gorki neighborhood so their children can legally attend Eureka. Currently, the legality of admitting first-graders checks prosecutor's office.

On the eve of the school's website appeared Information about the Tomsk mayor's office's decision to increase the number of first-grade classes by eliminating school recreation areas. This will bring the number of first-grade classes to ten in the new school year.

To clarify, the Eureka Development School currently has 2000 students—800 more than its projected enrollment.

The school is unique in that it uses unique educational technologies: “Developmental learning” according to the system of D.B. Elkonin – V.V. Davydov, “Free pedagogy” by L. Tolstoy, the pedagogy of M. Montessori and Waldorf pedagogy.
