New footage has emerged of beaten children from an orphanage in Tugulym, Sverdlovsk. There was a scandal there in the spring, which Bastrykin was monitoring. At the time, he was informed that there were no violations.
Head of the Talisman of Childhood charitable foundation Elena Veselaya provided journalists recent photographs taken in the Tugulym orphanage.
One photo shows a boy who, according to the woman, suffered a cut on his face after being pushed by a teacher. Another photo shows fresh scratches on his arm. The children themselves explained to Elena Veselaya that the scratches were caused by a social worker who tried to lift the child from his bed. Another photo shows one of the orphanage staff members holding the child down while another swings at him.
Elena Veselaya helps the orphanage in Tugulym several years. This spring she reported Investigators were told that management was pocketing gifts from volunteers, and that several girls had even been sexually assaulted by an adult man. The head of the charity also shared with journalists a recording of a psychologist's conversation with a student who had been hit by a teacher for talking to her friends at night. In the recording, the psychologist asks the girl why she "aired her dirty laundry in public." Veselaya also shared screenshots of messages in which children report being physically assaulted by teachers.
