It looks like concrete, but inside it's foam. Fake pillars were discovered on the Nizhny Novgorod embankment after renovations.

"Styrofoam repairs have fallen on the Oka River embankment near Lenin Square. A cast-iron fence with concrete pillars has stood along the river since Soviet times. But suddenly it was discovered—apparently thanks to vandals—that the pillars are no longer concrete, but styrofoam," сообщает website "By the way".

Nizhny Novgorod Ruslan Kozhukhov I noticed a similar pillar on the other side of the bridge some time ago—workers were repairing it. When Kozhukhov asked about the "original engineering and design solution," they replied that they had been tasked with plastering the structure, which already had foam inside.

"If we walk by and knock on each of the columns, we'll hear a dull sound—it's some kind of deception. We live in a beautiful tourist town, right in the heart of it, and a huge number of people are watching... I think this is wrong.", he said.

The Kanavinsky District Administration and the Ministry of Property refused to tell journalists how many of the bridge's columns were "real" and how many were "fake" foam ones. It was also impossible to determine whose idea it was that they were there. Officials only stated that the damaged foam column would soon be repaired, and that further structural repairs to the bridge were planned for the future.
