A bear mauled a woman in Magadan.
Tragedy occurred On July 15, around 4:00 PM, two women were near the Marchekan Highway in Magadan when one of them spotted a bear. "I turned around and saw a bear. She ran into the woods, and I turned left. I didn't hear him run after her," she later told police.

A predator attacked a woman attempting to escape through the forest. She died from her injuries. The bear was later found and shot.
This isn't the only bear attack in the city's outskirts recently. In June, сообщалось About five local residents who were attacked by a bear. Two of them died.
In Russia, bears have recently been increasingly frequenting cities and other populated areas (https://newizv.ru/news/2023-07-13/effekt-kommunalki-pochemu-dikie-zveri-vse-chasche-vyhodyat-na-dorogi-i-ulitsy-gorodov-413383). Experts say this is because humans are increasingly encroaching on areas previously occupied by animals. As a result, bears are running out of food, and they are turning to urban dumps and garbage heaps.
Experts advise that if you encounter a bear, you should not run away from it, but rather become as inconspicuous as possible, make as little noise as possible, and avoid making any sudden movements.
