20-year-old speed skater Yulia Epifanova beat up Former coach Alexander Kardakov. It happened at the Uralskaya Molniya stadium in Chelyabinsk, as the athlete was waiting to take the ice—she had come to Chelyabinsk for a training camp as part of the regional speed skating team.

"Her former coach came up behind her and snatched her skates from her hands, cutting her hand. She went after him to get the skates, but he knocked her to the floor, kicked her, and hit her in the head with his skates. She got up and started fighting him, but two [other] coaches held her down, allowing Kardakov to escape with her skates," claims the athlete's sister, Anna.
The conflict stemmed from the former coach demanding Epifanova return her skates. However, Anna claims that Yulia bought the boots herself and that another coach provided the blades.

The athlete left Alexander Kardakov because, according to her sister, she was constantly bullied for her excess weight.
Head of the Ural Lightning Stadium reported, that the coach may be banned from entering the stadium.
