"Feeding our friends the wolves." A live piglet was fed to the predators in the Irkutsk region. A Bratsk City Council deputy may be involved.
Warning: The video contains swearing and scenes of violence.
A video shows two men throwing a live piglet into a wolf enclosure. опубликовал Telegram channel Babr.Mash. Journalists specify that one of the subjects is a city council member and one of the wealthiest residents. Bratsk Roman Klein.
«See how good and well-groomed Naf-Naf is?" he says, then sends the piglet into a pen with two wolves, who tear the animal apart in a minute and a half. The camera captures the piglet's piercing screams and agonizing death.
The video was brought to the attention of activists from the public organization "Voices for Animals." They have already filed a police report demanding that a case be opened under Article 245 of the Russian Criminal Code—cruelty to animals with the intent to cause pain and suffering.
According to the president of the international biodiversity conservation fund Nativus Arseniy Filippov, Predators are fed live animals only if they are being prepared for release.
«There can be no talk of release here., — Filippov commented on the video. — In the video, the man himself hands over food to the predators, which is unacceptable: once freed, this predator will again seek food from humans. It is these wolves that later become the ones everyone in the area fears.».
The animal rights activist believes that this is a case of the video's protagonists' disgusting desire to watch an animal's painful death.
Lawyer for the public organization "Voices for Animals" Artem Alekseev emphasizes that such stories occur due to the lack of a law that would recognize farm animals as sentient beings.
«Pigs feel pain, fear and other emotions, but unfortunately, by law they are only property.", Alekseev clarified.
He also had questions about the predators themselves being kept in captivity: perhaps this too is illegal.
Deputy Klein said journalists that the recording is a montage, which could be ordered by political opponents.
