"Adherents of ancient heresies": Ryazan Metropolitan against watching horror films
On the air of the radio station of the Ryazan diocese "Logos-Ryazan", in response to a listener's question about whether Orthodox people can watch horror films, Metropolitan Mark of Ryazan and Mikhailovsky answered:

"When we watch these horror films, we cast ourselves into a false state. That is, in a sense, we become adherents of ancient heresies. After all, there were heretics who believed that the world was the creation of the Evil One. God, yes, is kind and good, but the world was created, for example, by a demiurge. And so he reigns in this world. That God is not omnipotent, and so on. And so horror films are, in a sense, a manifestation of these beliefs, which lack a Christian frame of reference."
He noted that Russia already has "many mentally ill people," partly because we watch horror films. And to have peace and joy, to be healthy, we need to stop watching such films.
