The landfill's closure is unknown. The governor of Krasnodar Krai visited the infamous landfill in the village of Poltavskaya.

Veniamin Kondratyev He stated that the decision to close the landfill should be based solely on the conclusion of a state expert review, and that he does not trust commercial reviews.

"I believe—and this is my point of view as a person, and perhaps as a governor—that the landfill should certainly be closed. The question is—when? The only question is that if we close it, the situation could get even worse—from an environmental standpoint. To make a decision—and I will make it—on immediate closure, (…) I need a professional opinion—from Rospotrebnadzor—on
pollution of water, land and air”,
— said Veniamin Kondratyev to the assembled residents of the village.

"Nothing concrete was promised. The governor said the landfill would be closed, but whether it would be in a day or a year—it would depend on the analysis. We're currently petitioning the Investigative Committee in Krasnodar to commission an independent expert assessment. And then our environmentalists will dictate the sampling methodology to the investigator—not the way they did it last time. It's working out there. This is pure mockery: Rosprirodnadzor, for example, is sabotaging the situation—it's taking samples where it's impossible to detect excess levels, instead of taking them objectively. I think the Investigative Committee is the only agency attempting to objectively investigate the situation. The problem is that they have very little experience investigating environmental crimes, and it's difficult for them.", — commented NotMoscow Visit by the Governor and Chairman of the Public Council for the Closure of the Poltava Landfill Natalia Garyaeva.
