7 2006 October, the

Anna Politkovskaya, a journalist for Novaya Gazeta and author of the books "The Second Chechen War" and "Putin's Russia," was shot dead in the elevator of her building.

I often wonder: is Putin even a human being? Or a frozen iron statue? I think and find no answer as to whether he is a human being.

Her maiden name was Mazepa. She was born in 1958 in New York City to a family of diplomats. She graduated with a degree in journalism from Moscow State University. She married Alexander Politkovsky, one of the anchors of "Vzglyad." Since 1999, she has been a special correspondent and columnist for Novaya Gazeta. In 2000, her reports from Chechnya were recognized with the "Golden Pen of Russia" award. In 2004, she interviewed Ramzan Kadyrov, the first deputy prime minister of Chechnya, who behaved provocatively rudely toward the journalist.

Cruelty is a severe infection prone to pandemics. It is not a one-time occurrence.

She worked as a human rights activist. She investigated corruption in the Ministry of Defense. She helped victims of the Nord-Ost terrorist attack. During the siege, she participated in negotiations with the terrorists and carried water to the hostages.

Why did I dislike Putin? That's why I disliked him. For his simplicity, which is worse than theft. For his cynicism. For his racism. For his endless war. For his lies. For the gas at Nord-Ost. For the corpses of innocent victims that haunted his entire first term. Corpses that might not have existed.

On September 2, 2004, she flew to Beslan. She wanted to mediate with the terrorists who had seized the school. She lost consciousness on the plane after drinking tea. She was hospitalized in Rostov-on-Don with a diagnosis of poisoning by unknown toxins. She suspected that FSB officers may have poisoned her.

Putin, having accidentally acquired enormous power, wielded it with catastrophic consequences for Russia. And I don't like him because he doesn't like people. He can't stand us. He despises us. He thinks we're just a means to his ends, and nothing more... That he can destroy us as he pleases. That we're nothing. And he—though he rose to the top by accident—is now the king and god, whom we must worship and fear.

In 2021, the statute of limitations for the murder of Anna Politkovskaya expired. The mastermind behind the murder has never been found.
