In Novorossiysk, a school is being built on the site of a newly discovered archaeological site.
An object believed to date back to the 4th–3rd centuries BC was discovered in Novorossiysk near a school under construction. As reported by the restoration artist Igor Kuzin of the Novorossiysk Historical Museum-Reserve, builders researchers are not allowed in to the excavation site, and equipment is working on the territory.
According to Kuzin, a cultural heritage site dating back to the 4th–3rd centuries BC was discovered in the vineyard area back in 2018. When construction of a school began 100 meters away, he visited the site and discovered a new archaeological site, partially destroyed during excavation.
"A week ago, the governor ordered the monument to be registered... Today, local historians and local historians gathered again, but we weren't allowed in, and near our excavations, excavation work was underway, violating the monument's security zone.", — the artist said.
Previously deputy head of Novorossiysk Alexander Mokhna He explained that the land allocated for the construction of a 1500-seat school is located within the protected area of an archaeological site, and assured that if archaeological sites are discovered on the site, all legally required measures will be taken to preserve them.
The city administration refused to comment on the conflict with museum staff.
Ранее NotMoscow wrote that in St. Petersburg Gazprom is going to build up Okhtinsky Cape, where Neolithic human settlements, ditches of the Novgorod fortress, the Landskrona fortress and the Nyenskans fortress from two periods, and a burial ground from the 16th–17th centuries were discovered.
