"A Holiday Every Day." Social media users react to the proposal to rename Halloween "Spooky Tales and Stories Day."

The proposal was put forward by a State Duma deputy from the LDPR party. Yaroslav NilovIn his opinion, banning the holiday entirely is wrong; Halloween should simply be "nationalized."

"Essentially, it's a celebration of evil spirits. Didn't they know how to scare people in Rus'? Didn't they inspire terror? Who didn't learn about the adventures and victims of the 'dark hand' as a child? What about Koshchei, Baba Yaga, Leshy, and other 'neighborhood authorities'?" Nilov wrote on his Telegram channel. "Folklore has never lagged behind; our land has been, is, and will be richer in talent than others."

According to the deputy, this will help "move away from the ties to Western culture," but will preserve the fun that many are accustomed to.

Yaroslav Nilov's idea has left social media users indifferent—their opinions on the renaming have been collected on cards.
