Lyudmila Gurchenko, actress, singer, and style icon, was born in Kharkov.
I didn't come here to keep quiet!
Gurchenko's first line in a film, 1956
She saw life behind the scenes from an early age: her parents worked at the Philharmonic and took their daughter to concerts.
In 1941, her father went to the front, and 6-year-old Gurchenko remained with her mother in the occupied territory. KharkovTo avoid starving to death, she stole at the market, danced and sang for German soldiers in exchange for a bowl of soup.
After tenth grade, she moved to Moscow, taking her enormous accordion with her. She enrolled at VGIK.
At just 21, she played the lead role in the film "Carnival Night," which made her a superstar. It sold 48 million tickets, her song "Five Minutes" became a New Year's hit, and her photos appeared on the covers of national magazines. Soviet fashionistas copied her perm, wore belted dresses, and went on diets to achieve her same 48-centimeter (19-inch) wasp waist.
A woman's body isn't like an accordion: I'll get fat, I'll lose weight, I'll get fat, I'll lose weight... You have to control yourself.
"Carnival Night" branded Gurchenko as a "light dance actress." Because of this, she was unable to play serious roles for almost 15 years.
Only in the mid-70s did she prove that her heroines were capable of genuine sadness (“20 Days Without War,” “Five Evenings,” “Siberiade”).
In 1982, she played one of her leading roles, the waitress Vera, in the melodrama "Station for Two." Two years later, she played the homewrecker Raisa Zakharovna in the comedy "Love and Doves."
She has appeared in 138 projects, released 17 music albums, and 16 music videos. She has had six husbands.
I have always had one love - great, sincere, sensual, devoted... Only the objects changed.
She loved sewing. She created many of the costumes and jewelry admired by millions of fans with her own hands.
She died on March 30, 2011, from a blood clot. She was 75. Several thousand people came to pay their respects. On the day of her funeral, her famous song played every half hour in the Moscow metro. "The team of our youth."
