Vera Pekhteleva's parents sent a request to the Kemerovo prosecutor asking for clarification on why their daughter's killer was pardoned.

In their request, the parents of murdered Kemerovo resident Vera Pekhteleva are asking for a prosecutorial review of the pardon commission for Vladislav Kanyus. They also want to know the appropriateness of this decision. опубликовала Human rights activist Alena Popova wrote on her Telegram channel.
The request cites several provisions of the presidential decree on pardon commissions. They state that pardons must take into account the nature and degree of public danger of the crime, the convicted person's behavior while serving their sentence, the time already served, and compensation for material damages caused by the crime. Pardons must also consider whether there have been previous requests for pardons from relatives, the convicted person's lawyer, or other individuals. Furthermore, the opinions of victims or their relatives must be taken into account when granting pardons.

Alena Popova says the prosecutor's office must answer all questions.
As a reminder, Vladislav Kanyus, who was sentenced to 17 years for the murder of Vera Pekhteleva and served less than six months in prison, enlisted in the war with Ukraine. It was recently revealed that he pardoned and even suspended payment of compensation to the parents of the girl he killed.
