Three Land Cruisers as a gift: The Belgorod governor doesn't know the people who donated SUVs worth 40 million rubles to the regional government's fleet.

Question about three Land Cruisers asked the governor To Vyacheslav Gladkov at today's press conference - two months after the expensive gift рассказал opposition blogger Maxim Klimov.

The vehicles appeared in the regional government's garage earlier this year. One of the SUVs is armored. According to Klimov, they may have been a gift from a businessman. Sergey Yurkin: he receives contracts to restore buildings in areas Luhansk region, which is supervised by Belgorod region. And this looks a lot like a bribe.

Later the prosecutor's office confirmedthat the entrepreneur's company is indeed involved in the transfer of two Land Cruisers. The third vehicle, according to the department, was donated to the government by an electrometallurgical plant owned by To Yuri Krivosheev.

Today, during a press conference, a journalist asked the governor to explain the fate of the SUVs and whether he knew Yurkin and Krivosheev.

«The situation is quite simple. There is no illegal activity related to these vehicles being in the fleet; they are state property. Everything is within the bounds of current legislation.“,” Gladkov replied.

He also stated that he was “not personally acquainted” with Krivosheev and Yurkin. However, the latter had worked for many years in Penza region, where Gladkov moved from. He even had a conviction for embezzlement there.

When asked why exactly the government received such an expensive gift, the governor did not answer.
