"Crazy Idea": 3 Tons of Dumplings Sent from Udmurtia to the Front

"Let the festive table be delicious" — the head of the republic wrote on his social networks Alexander Brechalov.

He made the proposal in October at a meeting with the families of those mobilized. "We have a crazy idea to send them dumplings."- сказал then Brechalov.

"After this announcement, almost all of Udmurtia joined the 'dumpling marathon'."- сообщается On the Udmurtpotrebsoyuz website. Ten companies, including a large meat processing plant and entrepreneurs, donated the dumplings. The senders hoped that "the soldiers will feel the warmth of home and the festive atmosphere."

It is reported that frozen dumplings will be delivered in a refrigerated truck to the "SVO" zone and distributed among units.

The comments to Brechalov's post are generally supportive of the idea. But there are also skeptics.

"Nobody's going to let a refrigerated truck get within 50 km of the base station. It's not enough to just pick it up; you have to cook it somewhere... At the front, for a week or two, there's nothing but canned food... You can't even heat up food there—thermal imagers immediately pick up a signature and it's dumped," "You can only eat them raw," "Someone will eat them... And someone at the very front will just listen... in a couple of weeks," — they write in the comments.

In the east Ukraine Positive temperatures are expected until the end of the year.
