Riot in Yakutsk. Spontaneous protests are taking place in the city following the murder of a 26-year-old native of the Namsky district.

The murder suspect is a native Tajikistan, who had previously received Russian citizenship.

"The killer has been arrested. He's a Russian citizen just like you. We've caught him, and there will be an investigation. What are you guys doing?" — the policeman declared to the assembled crowd.

Some of the rally participants were taken to a police van, while others fled in panic across the roadway.

The head of Yakutia, Asen Nikolaev, called on Yakutians not to respond to illegal calls from "provocateurs based abroad" who want to "ignite conflict, sow discord, divide, and embitter" the people of Russia.

"Be careful, there's a lot of false information being spread right now. Now, when the real enemy is killing our fellow citizens, we must unite like never before.", - calls the head of Yakutia.

In 2019, Yakutia experienced mass protests following the rape of a local woman by a Kyrgyz citizen. Several thousand people took part in the rallies.
