Medics and rescuers are currently on duty at the scene.

According to local media, the dormitory has been in a dangerous state for a long time and has been officially declared unsafe since 2023. City hall planned to demolish the 1964 building. The owners of the 140 apartments were to receive compensation and new housing.

UPD: "In 2020, it was declared unsafe and slated for demolition. Residents were offered temporary housing. All residents refused." — the mayor of Rostov-on-Don commented on the emergency on his Telegram channel Alexey Logvinenko. 

According to him, 95 people have been evacuated, and a temporary accommodation center has been set up for them at a local school.
