And they started to finish him off...

A little over a year has passed since the death of Kurban Dalgatov. Dalgatov was murdered in the Sovietsky District police station of Makhachkala. He was strangled, tortured with electric shocks, and brutally beaten. To cover up the evidence, his body was intended to be thrown from the fourth floor. The criminal investigation remains ongoing, and several suspects in the murder have been placed under house arrest. The victim's parents accuse the investigators and the prosecutor's office of inaction and a reluctance to bring all those involved in their son's murder to justice.
NeMoskva spoke with Kurban Daghlatov's mother, Raisat Dalgatova, and the family's lawyer, and compiled everything we know so far about his death. We explain how a father of two, a wonderful family man, a loving and beloved son, a wrestling coach, and simply a "good guy" died at the hands of police.

Raisat, Kurban Dalgatov's mother, remembered the fateful day of January 20th forever. As usual, Kurban stopped by her place for dinner after work. It was his tradition; he'd bought an apartment near his parents' house to be closer to them. Every day after work, he came over with the kids for dinner and loved my cooking. Before eating anything I cooked, he always took a photo of the dish and encouraged me to start a food blog., says Raisat.
She recalls that on that day, as soon as her son stepped over the threshold, the phone rang, and Kurban hurried somewhere, telling his mother that he needed to help his friends.
As it later turned out, a dispute broke out between Dalgatov's neighbors over a girl. The conflict culminated in a shootout. 40-year-old Arsen Magomedov, the girl's cousin, wounded her fiancé in the leg with a non-lethal pistol.
All this happened In a field not far from our street. The man who had been shot called Kurban and asked him to take him to the hospital. They were all childhood friends, and the son couldn't refuse. He hadn't been involved in the nikah conflict itself. However, at midnight, he and two friends were taken to the police station at the Sovietsky District Police Station in Makhachkala. adds Raisat.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also doesn't deny that Dalgatov was not involved in the conflict or the shootout. After Kurban's death, investigators confirmed that he was brought to the police station to determine the shooter's whereabouts. Investigators also theorized that Dalgatov allegedly helped Magomedov escape the scene.
The CCTV footage shows Kurban calmly entering the station. What does he have to be afraid of? He hasn't done anything wrong, and he's never had any incidents with the police. the mother of the deceased says
How Kurban Dalgatov was killed
Raisat recalls with great difficulty what happened to her son at the police station:
«As my son's friends told me, the police in They turned off the lights in the corridor and started beating and torturing Kurban there. His friends whom that night they also tortured, then they said that they were taken into the office, put on bags on their heads and so they interrogated. The police took away They have phones. Kurban's friend asked the police not to touch him, but they said it was too late, and now they will act "on a grand scale" and they started to finish him off».
Edition "Draft", citing his source, reported that at the police station, they planned to throw the already dead Dalgatov from the fourth floor or down the stairs, making it look like a bad fall. But they ultimately decided to take the body to the hospital. To prevent the removal of the body from being captured on CCTV, one of the officers simply covered the camera with his jacket.

Later, during a pretrial detention hearing, Raisat approached one of the suspects and asked how he could have done such a thing, but he denied everything. They deny everything. They still swear on their mothers that they didn't kill him. " adds NeMoskva's source. During one of the court hearings, the officers who killed Dalgatov stated that he "clutched his heart, leaned against the wall, and then fell, hitting his face on the floor."
However, even the first official statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan, immediately after Kurban's death, stated that "during the investigation, the citizen's condition worsened and he was given first aid. Police officers decided to transport him to a medical facility. Despite these measures, doctors pronounced the man dead. It was later determined that the deceased had sustained bodily injuries that may have contributed to the death of the detainee."
According to the forensic examination, Kurban Dalgatov's death was caused by asphyxiation, which was caused by electric shocks to the heart. Source of "Chernovik" He told reporters that the police made their final attempt to get out of trouble at the hospital: they demanded that the doctors on duty indicate in their documents that Dalgatov was alive when his body was delivered to the hospital. The doctors refused.
According to Kurban’s friends, who were the first to see his body in the morgue, Raisat knows that her son had broken ribs and there were abrasions and bruises on his body: “They tortured him there: someone was strangling, putting a bag on my head, someone was sitting on him and hitting him, the groin area was black».
"The most beloved and attentive son"
Kurban was the long-awaited son and the family's favorite. Mom's helper and protector, - Raisat tells NeMoskva. He stood up for me from childhood, and I, on the contrary, protected him, not even letting him go out to buy bread. I controlled his circle of friends to make sure he didn't fall in with the wrong crowd, and I knew his parents' friends. He was our favorite, smart, kind, and strong. The neighbors always asked where he went to work out, and he got that from us; his father and I are also athletic.

Kurban was passionate about wrestling since childhood. After finishing school, he entered the Moscow Institute of Physical Education and Sports. I entered and graduated on my own. He was in good standing at the institute. He never asked for money, he dressed and shod himself. through part-time jobs and victories in wrestling tournaments, says Raisat.
Shortly before his death, Kurban told his mother that even 10 years after graduating from the institute, teachers held him up as an example to current students.
After completing his studies, he returned to Makhachkala and found work at an insurance company. But he didn't work there for long and then switched to coaching, where he began to feel truly happy.

After getting married, he bought an apartment near his parents' house to be closer to his mother, to whom he was very attached.
They quickly apologized and retired.
The death of Dalgatov, known to many in the city as a talented wrestling coach and "just a good guy," literally shook Makhachkala. Photos of the deceased Kurban's body, covered in horrific abrasions and bruises, were shared among family members via instant messaging apps. The leadership of the Dagestan Ministry of Internal Affairs hastily apologized to the relatives, assuring them that the criminal case opened for torture would be properly investigated and that those responsible would be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The republic's Minister of Internal Affairs even attended Kurban's funeral.
On the very first day after Dalgatov’s death, three criminal investigation officers from the Sovietsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Makhachkala were indeed detained: Islam Atavov, Magomed Malikov, and Magomedkamil Kurbanov.
Arrests continued throughout last year, with Mavlet Amirov arrested in April, Bolat Medzhidov in July, and Adis Isakov and Nazhmudin Chupanov in October. Early this year, on January 12, investigators arrested Muslim Kerimov, Magomedshapi Magomedshapiev, and Imran Rustamov. A total of ten people have been arrested in connection with the Dalgatov case.
Another suspect entered into a pre-trial agreement to cooperate with the investigation.
However, the court placed four suspects, charged with serious and especially serious crimes, under house arrest. This greatly outraged Kurbonov and Dalgatov's relatives.
«How can prosecutors, while supporting an investigator's motion in court during a pretrial detention hearing, fail to appeal the court rulings that dismissed the motion? How can prosecutors fail to appeal a court ruling that placed the accused under house arrest for a particularly serious crime committed by the authorities? Explain this to us—parents who have lost their only son, a wife who has lost her husband, and young children who have been left orphans. How is it possible that the prosecutor's office is so negligent and irresponsible in monitoring and supporting the state prosecution?,” the relatives of the deceased wrote in their open letter to the public and law enforcement agencies. Letter published "Draft" edition.
As Madina Aliyeva, the Dalgatov family's lawyer, told a NeMoskva correspondent, the defense also has questions for the investigation, which, in her opinion, is mischaracterizing the actions of the police officers. I believe that they should be charged with acts of prior conspiracy in the episode related to the death of Kurban Dalgatov, since before the attack on him, the accused agreed and distributed roles“,” Aliyeva explained the defense’s position.
Kurban's parents regularly visit the prosecutor's office, trying to get a personal meeting with the head of the agency, but to no avail. Attempts to meet with the head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, have also been unsuccessful. We're in dire straits, and we're being treated this way by the head of the republic. How can they not receive us? Why isn't he doing anything and taking this matter under his personal control? – Kurban’s mother, Raisat, is perplexed in a conversation with NeMoskva.

Despite the dismissal of virtually the entire leadership of the Sovetsky District Department of Internal Affairs, none of the officers were held criminally responsible. Kurban's relatives believe they all assisted their subordinates in covering up the crime. Marat Babayev, head of the criminal investigation department of the Sovetsky District Department of Internal Affairs, was not only at work in the dead of night at the time of Dalgatov's murder, but also on the same floor where Dalgatov was killed. He is a defendant in the case, but the court has not imposed any preventive measures against him.
Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Department Arsen Abdulkadyrov, arrived at the police station As soon as he learned from his fellow soldiers about Kurban's death. He is not a defendant in the criminal case at all.
But Badrutdin Yusupov, who headed the Soviet District Department of Internal Affairs at the time, managed to retire successfully.
According to Kurban's mother, she wanted to attend a solo picket, but relatives told her it was best to hold off for now. But many of us are ready to go to the rally: He has many friends, neighbors, cousins, but we are still hoping for justice and are not going anywhere. Anyway, I I will fight to the end to They punished everyone who touched my son, everyone who even stood nearby while he was being tortured., says Raisat.
"When will Allah let my dad go?"
In memory of her son, a small display case was set up in his parents' home, displaying his portrait, commendations, and certificates. Raisat spends long periods of time here, feeling closer to her son. Kurban's two children are frequent guests at their grandparents' home. Raisat still loves cooking and spoiling her grandchildren with delicious food, which, unfortunately, no one photographs anymore to "post masterpieces online."

son Kurban eight years old, my daughter turned five, - says Raisat. - I ask what to buy her for her birthday, а she answers I have a dream, for dad to come. She misses him very much and constantly asks "When Allah will let my dad go».
