Nizhny Novgorod is launching a virtual "Resident Card." But it will have to be linked to Gosuslugi "for reliability and security."

“We are expanding the portal’s capabilities, including by implementing the digitalization tasks that the Russian President spoke about in his Address,” wrote Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin announced on his Telegram channel: "Registration is through Gosuslugi, which will improve the reliability and security of your data."

The Resident Card will allow you to pay for public transportation, submit meter readings, pay utility bills, and manage your student card.

For now, the service is available to Android smartphone owners, since Apple has removed the apps of most Russian banks from the AppStore, but the FAS has already demanded Apple "to present its position regarding access of Russian payment systems to contactless payments in the iOS system."
