Torn underwear and holey socks: Nizhnevartovsk volunteers complain that they are being given unwanted old clothes under the guise of humanitarian aid.

Volunteers of the "Help us hold on" project collect essential items to be sent to people affected by floods and other disasters, Russian military personnel and families in need.

Volunteers are grateful to everyone who helps, but some bring them "torn underwear, worn-out socks and boots, jackets, children's toys made of plasticine, and even unwanted documents." The volunteers have to collect all of this and send it to the landfill at their own expense.

NeMoskva has also written about the opposite situation, when good quality items collected for charity end up in the trash. For example, in Belgorod и Rostov In the regions, all collected medicines, children's clothes and food ended up in city garbage dumps.
