Deputy Defense Minister Ivanov is accused of assisting companies that performed construction and repair work for him free of charge.

Timur Ivanov

Ivanov's lawyer reported this to Interfax. What else is known about the high-ranking official's arrest as of this hour?

🔸Timur Ivanov is the highest-ranking official to have come under the security forces' radar since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Ivanov is a member of Shoigu's "team" and has held the post of deputy minister since 2016.

🔸Ivanov is a lover of luxury. For example, his driver is registered as the owner of the "Dvoryanskoe Gnezdo" company and a mansion in the center of Moscow. He also owns a mansion on Rublyovka. Even after the war in Ukraine began, Ivanov's wife continued to spend hundreds of thousands of euros on vacations on the French Riviera, jewelry, and clothing.

🔸"Important Stories," citing its sources in the FSB, claims Ivanov is suspected of treason. Another lawyer for the official stated that no charges other than bribery have been brought against him.

🔸In addition to Timur Ivanov, the court also arrested his acquaintance Sergei Borodin, who appears as a trusted person of the Deputy Minister of Defense.

🔸 Timur Ivanov managed major military construction projects, for example, overseeing the construction of the main cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces in Moscow, the Vostochny Cosmodrome, Patriot Park, and the restoration of occupied Mariupol.

🔸Blogger Michael Naki noted how, after Ivanov's arrest, z-bloggers began sharing details about how exactly he stole and from where. They hadn't previously written about this.

🔸Timur Ivanov denies guilt and plans to appeal his arrest, his lawyer told Interfax.
