"Every centimeter is littered, there's just a goat's head lying on the road." In Tomsk, the sites of mass executions during Stalin's purges are buried in garbage.

The ravines of Mount Kashtak in Tomsk, where people were shot en masse during Stalin's purges, are drowning in garbage, TV2 reports, citing a subscriber.

"The entire area of Kashtachnaya Gora is simply littered with trash. Cigarette butts, empty bottles, broken glass, construction debris, and even animal bones. Every inch is littered, and there's even a goat's head lying in the road. Even a cleanup day won't help; we need to haul the trash away with trucks."

During Stalin's mass repressions, the ravines of Mount Kashtaka served as a firing range. Around nine thousand people were executed there. Among them was the poet Nikolay Klyuev, philosopher Gustav Shpet, princes Alexander Golitsyn и Mikhail Dolgorukov and the princess Olga Urusova.

In 2003, a nine-meter-tall memorial cross was unveiled on the mountain. At its base is a granite slab bearing the inscription, "Eternal Memory to the Innocent Victims."
