Rabbis sang and danced at the first congress in the history of Kaliningrad

The Kaliningrad synagogue hosted its first rabbinical convention, bringing together over 100 people. Spiritual leaders attended the meeting to share experiences and discuss community development in their regions.

The synagogue where the congress took place opened on Oktyabrskaya Street in 2018. It replaced the New Liberal Synagogue of Königsberg, which was burned by the Nazis on Kristallnacht in 1938. That night, November 9–10, is remembered as the beginning of the Holocaust.
Opposed to the construction of a new synagogue since 2011 advocated The local administration, the nearby shopping center, and the management of the nearby circus tent supported the project. The Jewish community successfully defended the right to construct the building in court. The construction cost nine million euros, raised through donations.
