In Buryatia, a school built for 300 million rubles is sinking underground.
In the village Gurulba Ivolginsky Area are sounding the alarm over the situation with the local school, which built In 2018, everything was fine during the first winter, but by summer, cracks and sinkholes had appeared. According to the school principal Baira Garmaeva, already the following summer "there were hints", and since 2020 the situation has sharply worsened.
"Two years later, it became clear that the construction site had been poorly chosen. The building was constructed in the bed of an old river. When the standard design was applied, the groundwater depth was estimated at 8 meters, but in reality, it turned out to be half that. The contractor, Stroyinkom, warned the client, the capital construction department, of this, but the information was ignored." — they say in the People's Front of Buryatia.
The cause of the collapse is that the school was built on an old riverbed. The asphalt around the school is now crumbling, the ground is collapsing, and there are cracks in the foundation and brickwork. School management and community activists have repeatedly appealed to the client and contractor, but to no avail.
The head of Buryatia attended the school opening. Alexey Tsydenov, who said that the republic has been allocated money to create good conditions for children.
