An independent Novosibirsk City Council member was questioned by the FSB.

Independent deputy of the Novosibirsk City Council Svetlana Kaverzina, A woman who was included on the Russian government's "foreign agent" registry was questioned at the regional FSB office. She was summoned as a witness in a criminal case on "financing extremist activity" (Part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Criminal Code), the details of which are unknown.

Kaverzina told NeMoskva that she remained a witness and signed a non-disclosure agreement. The interrogation lasted several hours.

In addition, another independent deputy was summoned for questioning today. Anton Kartavin, also included in the register of “foreign agents”.

Kaverzina and Kartavin were the last remaining deputies from the Novosibirsk 2020 coalition to enter the city council in 2020. The other two Sergei Boyko и Helga Pirogovawho were forced to leave Russia under threat of criminal prosecution, deprived mandates.

The next city council elections will be held in 2025. Kaverzina and Kartavin will not be able to participate due to a repressive law prohibiting "foreign agents" from running.
