"Everything was done behind a blind fence." A Ryazan resident shared photos of the reconstructed part of the Lower Park. Its historic landscape has been destroyed.

The reconstruction of the Lower City Park, for which 360 million rubles have been allocated from the federal and regional budgets, began in 2023. Governor Pavel Malkov He promised that the park's historic appearance would remain unchanged. The park was surrounded by a high fence. The day before, a hole appeared in the fence, and a Ryazan resident reported what she saw.

"Not many of the old linden trees remain, but the most important thing is that the natural landscape has been destroyed. Those wonderful ravines, down whose slopes generations skied in winter, covered with emerald grass in summer, are gone. There are cubic meters of fashionable paving stones left."- wrote Natalia Lukashina on VKontakte.

The park can be visually divided into two parts. The first, from the entrance to the Palace of Folk Arts (formerly the Noble Assembly), led past a small plateau into ravines with paved paths. The second, from the Palace of Arts to the historic red stone fence, housed a summer open-air theater.

The fact that the ravines in the first part of the park were filled in was revealed by the wind, which tore a banner off the construction fence.

Everything is covered in white tiles, which in a year will be impossible to look at, and again there are benches without backs, — Lukashina told NeMoskva. — A local resident stood by this "hole" [in the fence], almost crying. He said he grew up here—he used to ski down the hills, take his children and grandchildren here, and now everything is destroyed.

"I saw them falling asleep too late. I would have died under a bulldozer," "Everything was done in secret, behind a blind fence," "Not preserving the estate park and changing its landscape is sheer stupidity," — Ryazan residents write.

Ryazan authorities have not yet commented on the situation.

The park is scheduled to open after reconstruction on December 28.
