Thirty-nine children were poisoned at the Magistral sanatorium in Salair, Kemerovo.

Another victim is an adult. All are under medical supervision.

The preliminary cause of the poisoning is norovirus infection, according to the Rospotrebnadzor office for rail transport (Magistral is part of the West Siberian Railway). Employees have collected surface swabs, samples of finished products, and water samples.

A criminal case has been opened for providing services that do not meet safety requirements. Magistral's operations have been suspended. The parents will receive refunds for the vouchers.  

In June 2023, more than 12 children were hospitalized from the Magistral Sanatorium with an intestinal infection of unknown etiology. The sanatorium's operations were temporarily suspended.
