Not a night without anxiety: Volgograd residents wake up almost daily to the wail of sirens from the Lukoil oil refinery.

Information about the siren that was triggered in Krasnoarmeysky district appeared on social media today at approximately 02:30 a.m. local time.

Local public groups post almost daily about "mysterious" and "scary" sirens. Each time, they clarify that emergency services attribute the alarm to alarms at local businesses and assure that there is no danger to the public.

"It would be strange if even one night went by without a siren at Lukoil," "Surely some blue or stoned demon is terrorizing the residents," "It's as if a war is going on in a neighboring country, and the tsar from a neighboring country is launching attacks on our factories in response. <…> If something serious happens, believe me, air raid sirens will sound throughout the entire region. Don't panic," "I hear the air defense system working every time. I have very good hearing. But that's not the point. They're probably constantly training air defense crews and electronic warfare systems. The Krasnoarmeysky industrial zone is heavily populated with chemical and petrochemical plants," Volgograd residents reassure each other.

And while some are afraid every night, others forget the fable about the boy and the wolf: “Well, really, they’re tired of posting the same thing over and over again,” they scold local publics that publish new posts about sirens.

Remarkably, during all the days the air raid alarms were sounded, the city authorities never commented on what was happening.
