70% of SVO participants and their children entered leading Russian universities under quotas with scores below the passing threshold
In 2024, more than 2 people were admitted to 18 of Russia's top universities under quotas for veterans of the war in Ukraine and their children, according to Important Stories. This is a 75% increase from last year.
One in three students was admitted without exams. And of those who did take exams, 70% scored below the 2023 admissions requirements (the publication used this information as a guideline, as the 2024 admissions requirements are still unknown).
At RUDN and HSE, the share of those admitted under a “separate quota” with scores lower than the required competitive score (excluding those admitted without any exams) was 91% and 89%, respectively.
