Tickets for reserved seats in Russia have increased in price by almost a quarter.

And this is just for the first six months of 2024, Vedomosti reports, citing Rosstat data. Experts cite "seasonal price increases" and "a sharply increased demand for domestic tourism in Russia" as the reasons.

On average, the price for 100 kilometers of travel on a long-distance train was more than 280 rublesThis figure is 23% higher than the January-June figures of last year. In some cases, it's cheaper to fly. The cost of a reserved seat carriage on a branded train increased by 17% over the same period. up to 401 rubles per 100 km of travel. 

Travel in a non-branded compartment carriage is 15% cheaper (up to 438 rubles), and in a branded carriage it is 16% cheaper (up to 595 rubles).
