A 75-year-old man died in Moscow. Konstantin StanislavskyA theater reformer and founder of the Moscow Art Theater. First People's Artist of the USSR.
I do not believe!
Born in 1863 in Moscow, into the family of the owner of a gold thread factory Sergei Alekseev. My grandmother was a French actress, and there was a theater hall in my parents' house.
At 15, he dropped out of the Institute of Oriental Languages and worked as a bookkeeper at the family factory. He performed on amateur stages, in comedies and vaudeville. To avoid revealing his last name, he adopted the stage name of a former actor, "Stanislavsky."
There was nowhere to play, but I was dying to play. I had to join the company of suspicious people—there were both cardsharps and courtesans.
At 25, he became the director of the Society of Arts and Literature. At 31, he created a theater and brass band for workers at the family factory, which he managed for several years. At 35, together with Nemirovich-Danchenko founded the Moscow Art Theatre.
He developed a system of acting techniques and methods named after him. It is based on the actor's transformation. The highest level of stagecraft, according to Stanislavsky, is the art of experiencing: when the actor actually becomes his character. The author of the system considered this to be Feodor Chaliapin.
Love the art in yourself, not yourself in art
During rehearsals, he would often and loudly repeat to his students the phrase “I don’t believe it!” if they were singing out of tune.
After the revolution, he created an opera studio in his apartment.
The Moscow Art Theatre was preserved by Lenin's personal order; it was given academic status.
Theater begins with a hanger (from Stanislavsky's letter to the cloakroom attendants of the Moscow Art Theatre, whom he thanked for their congratulations on his 70th birthday)
In recent years, after a heart attack, he taught at the opera studio at the Bolshoi Theatre.
Many Hollywood stars studied using his method.
Lived a long time. Seen a lot. Was rich. Then became poor. Seen the world. Had a good family, children. Sought glory. Found it. Saw honors, was young. Grew old. Soon it's time to die. Now ask me: what is happiness on earth? In knowledge—art and work.
