French President Emmanuel Macron commented for the first time on the arrest of Pavel Durov.

Macron said it was "in no way" a political decision and that the arrest was part of an ongoing France judicial investigation.

“I am reading false information here about France after the arrest of Pavel Durov. France is most committed to freedom of expression and communication, innovation, and entrepreneurship. And it will remain so." - said Macron.

Paul Durova detained in Paris while exiting a private jet on the evening of Saturday, August 24. He remains in custody.
