"In one fell swoop, they've ruined our children's lives." A Karelian village's primary school is being closed without warning.

Of Kolovo village, Pudozh district From the beginning of the new term, November 5, children will be taken to Pudozh over 22 km away from home. The parents are horrified by this prospect. They have contacted all authorities and the media.

No one consulted the parents; they were informed several days ago.

The children will be transported on roads that become impassable in the fall and spring, and are not cleared in the winter. The buses do not have seat belts for children. Furthermore, the children will have to wait until classes and older students finish their school days to return home. They will arrive home after dark, around 4:00 PM.

"We can't allow the school in Kolovo to close! At the beginning of the school year, the Pudozhsky District reported that the schools were ready. There were no plans to close the school. Two months have passed, and the administration has, in one fell swoop, ruined the future of our children, grossly violating their rights." Wrote Parents in the media.

Head of the Pudozhsky District Alexey Zubov commented on the situation, focusing on children's safety:

"The school building was built in the 1950s and does not meet modern safety requirements. Furthermore, it is currently impossible to organize food service and cleaning services in accordance with sanitary regulations."

He also said he was "keeping in touch with the parents." This isn't helping either them or the children. The parents have already contacted the Pudozh District Prosecutor's Office and the children's ombudsman.

While this school is closing its elementary grades, at the Arkhangelsk school were going to close senior classes. In Yaroslavl, Vladimir и Ulyanovsk region occur Merger schools with kindergartens. A Tambov, on the contrary, they have already “played enough” with the merger and started the process separation of two schools.
