A journalist from the Rostov region is receiving death threats after publishing a story critical of the district's head.

To the author and editor of the program "Our Week. Proletarsk" To Leonid Zaplatkin He received several phone threats after the release of the story in which he addressed the acting governor. Rostov region with a request to begin a “personnel purge” with the head Proletarsky District Valery Gornich, "who is psychologically tired and it's time for him to retire."

The first call came to the editorial office. Zaplatkin's assistant, Ekaterina, answered. An unknown person told her that Zaplatkin would "die overnight." Then they called the journalist's personal phone twice more.

NeMoscow spoke with Leonid Zaplatkin.

"I didn't expect this turn of events, because any competent government should respond appropriately to the criticism leveled at it. Especially since in my report, I reported fairly on the events unfolding in our Proletarsky District. And this is truly an appeal to Acting Governor of the Rostov Region, Yuri Slyusar, asking him to look into what's happening here today and, most likely, recommend that the governor resign. Because nothing has been accomplished in two years, and lying to the public about any projects or plans being implemented is, in my opinion, shameless on the part of the head of the administration."

According to the journalist, he had previously hoped that Gornich, a man from the Proletarsky District, would do something useful once he became head of the administration, but he was mistaken. He hopes the regional government will pay attention to what he said in his program.

If we need to collect signatures, I think we will do it., said Leonid Zaplatkin.

He has already filed a complaint about the threats with the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Rostov Region and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

NeMoscow is monitoring the situation.
