In Tatarstan, officials have proposed conducting "excavations" to determine the exact location of Marina Tsvetaeva's grave.

The proposal was made by the head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina. She is считаетThat "archaeological excavations" could be conducted for this purpose. Minullina expressed this idea while discussing the future of the republic's historical heritage.

Tsvetaeva is buried in Yelabuga, but the exact location is unknown. The poetess evacuated to this city in August 1941 and committed suicide a few days later.

The grave is located in the city's Petropavlovsk Cemetery. It's unclear how Minullina envisions "excavations" at this location.

In 1960, the poetess's sister Anastasia She came to Yelabuga to find her sister's grave. She believed she had located the location "fairly accurately," based on the recollections of the widow of the cemetery caretaker who was present at Marina's funeral. However, there is no further reliable confirmation.

Anastasia erected a cross at the intended site, on the south side of the cemetery. In 1970, by decision of the Tatar Writers' Union, the cross was replaced with a granite monument.

The place has been landscaped, memorial days are held here, and admirers of Tsvetaeva's legacy come here from different cities and countries, bring flowers, and read poetry.
