Tomsk scientists are ready to help remove fuel oil from the bottom of the Black Sea after the tanker accident.

This is an adaptation of the Aeroshup technology, which was used to clean water bodies in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and the Komi Republic, where oil production is active.

"All the experience gained will be used to adapt our technology using controlled underwater robots designed to remove pollution at great depths in marine conditions," says one of the developers of Aeroshup, director of the TSU Biological Institute Danil Vorobiev.

This is the response of Tomsk biologists to an appeal for assistance in eliminating the consequences of the fuel oil spill following the tanker disaster from the Novorossiysk environmental community.

"We learned about the Aeroshup technology at a roundtable discussion on the Black Sea, which took place in Novorossiysk at the end of October. No one could have imagined that just a month and a half later, we would be saving our Black Sea from an environmental disaster. The fuel oil spill caused serious problems, the long-term consequences of which we cannot yet predict. There are a large number of children's camps and sanatoriums in this area, making cleanup operations critically important," said the director of ANO "Advantage." Anna Krapacheva.

Currently, Tomsk biologists are in close contact with various scientific and environmental organizations. Krasnodar the edgesThey are holding consultations on the current situation and discussing options for using TGU technologies in the fuel oil-contaminated area.

As a reminder, two tankers sank in the Kerch Strait on December 15. The oil spill caused an environmental disaster that is spreading across the Black Sea. Birds and dolphins are dying from the spilled fuel oil, and volunteers are helping to rescue the surviving animals.
