The age of the discovered nugget is between 35 and 45 million years.. The Kaliningrad amber collection has been replenished with amazing specimens.

The past year resulted in the discovery of several unusual nuggets, which have been added to the collections of the Amber Combine and the Amber Museum.

A year ago, the Amber Combine boasted of its first major find: a stone weighing 1,3 kilograms discovered in the Primorsky quarry.

"The nugget discovered is between 35 and 45 million years old. It can be called a rare example of a large-sized 'layer stone'—that's the amber term for a stone formed by drips not on the inside of a tree trunk, but exclusively on the outside." said Olga, gemologist at the amber plant Anna Dugina.

Among the words are transparent, royal white, matte types, and in one of the layers relic coal has solidified.

In the spring at the plant mined nugget weighing 1,4 kilogramsIts distinctive features include numerous rounded shells, two of which are perforated. Experts suggest that these holes may have formed during the formation of fossilized resin from the trunk of a relict tree.

At the beginning of summer, specialists found amber in the shape of a human foot, but with four toes. Its weight is only 13 gramsThe plant's employees dubbed the unusual find a "gnome's foot."

This shape of the stone is due to evenly spaced obstacles that slightly distorted the resin's flow. Experts believe that the branches of a bush obstructed its path, dividing the amber into "fingers."

Another unusual specimen on the Baltic Sea coast found A schoolboy donated a specimen to the Amber Museum. An ancient wasp is clearly visible within the stone. Research has shown that the insect inclusion belongs to a group of wasps previously unknown in Baltic amber: wasp-scriptine.
