"Are you a woman?"

In the Sverdlovsk region, conscripts are being blackmailed and deceived into signing contracts with the Ministry of Defense to participate in the war with Ukraine.

The chairperson of the local Union of Soldiers' Mothers Committees reported on the blackmail and deception of Sverdlovsk conscripts. Marina Lebedeva. She said that soldiers are even enlisted as contract soldiers with a broken leg.

"Sometimes the blackmail starts: 'What are you doing, a woman? Come back and buy yourself a fancy car. What are you doing in the village? There are no prospects there.' Some agree. And God forbid they don't end up on the front lines. But there are cases where it's all arranged by deception. <…> From January 23 to February 6, a conscript was hospitalized with a broken leg. He left the hospital on crutches, and they told him, 'You signed the contract on February 4.' I got our district headquarters involved and contacted the unit command. And guess what? They send documents confirming he signed the contract himself. But it's clearly not his signature."  приводит words by Marina Lebedeva, published by EAN.

Lebedeva gave another example: a conscript went on leave, returned to his unit, and was declared AWOL. He was threatened with accusations of bribery to get out "on the town." Lebedeva said she had to accompany the soldier's parents to the unit; command told them it was an "unfortunate misunderstanding."

The activist added that soldiers' mothers' committees advocate for a professional Russian army. However, in her opinion, contracts should be signed by those who truly want to and whose health, including mental health, allows it.

Earlier it was reported that Chebarkul conscripts also by deception send to war with Ukraine. It is known that in Kursk region perished at least 25 conscripts.
