Not just April Fool's Day... but also Bird Day!

This important holiday aims to preserve the species diversity and population of birds, as well as draw attention to their problems.

The date chosen for early April is no coincidence—it's precisely at this time that birds begin their crucial nesting season. Therefore, traditionally, Bird Day is celebrated by hanging birdhouses and improving their habitats.

The holiday's history began in the late 19th century in the United States, from where it quickly spread to Europe. In Russia, this date is celebrated thanks to the efforts of the Bird Conservation Union, which has annually selected the "Bird of the Year" since 1996. This title is awarded to a recognizable but endangered species. The symbol of 2025 was rook (Corvus frugilegus), whose population in Russia, unfortunately, is steadily declining.

We congratulate everyone on this spring bird festival and urge you to be considerate of our feathered neighbors and their problems!
