Red-necked and endangered grebes. But they're not mushrooms, they're ducks!

Why are they called "grebes"? Because their meat is tasteless, explains the biologist. But ducks aren't meant to be eaten, they're meant to be admired!  

They are beauties: the front of their neck is reddish-chestnut, and in the spring feathers appear on their heads in the form of a forked crest - a kind of golden "horns". 

"Greeds form stable pairs for the entire breeding season. Now the pair's main task is to find a suitable nesting site on the pond. As it turns out, this is no easy task: there are competitors all around! Red-necked grebes are constantly thwarted in their nest building efforts by aggressive coots."“—wrote Pavel Glazkov—and wished the birds good luck in the fight for their family nests.
